Facebook can tend to be a popularity contest.
That is actually one thing I’m not too crazy about with Facebook. A lot of my friends tend to have boatloads of friends on their Facebook account, so whenever they post up anything even with a moderate level of interest, they will receive tons and tons of Facebook likes. Me? Well, I don’t have the insane amount of friends that I know other people do, so even when I post something of value and of interest, the Facebook likes I receive just pale in comparison.
I mean, should I really care?
No, not at all of course. But it would still be nice to get some recognition, do you know what I mean? I feel like getting “liked” on Facebook is kind of feast of famine.
Perhaps I should start posting more interesting stuff, and maybe more people will respond and Like the posts I’m putting out. I know that you can get a lot of Likes on your website if you put out interesting material, so this is also another way to get a lot of Likes coming your way.
I’ve read that it’s even helping your site rank higher in Google by receiving Facebook likes. Makes sense, too, as Google would be a better search engine by returning heavily liked content.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
